Is there anything better…..
….. than waking up in the morning to the smell of freshly baked bread?
I love buns, and I have been baking them since childhood….. there are few things in life that can compare with the joy I feel at the smell of a warm cinnamon bun….. but the smell of these delicious freshly baked English scones comes close….. and to make things perfect, this recipe is incredibly easy, but good enough to blow Prince Charles and Camilla of the throne.
6-12 Scones (depending on size)
7 ½ dl wheat flour
½ teaspoon salt
1 ½ teaspoon baking powder
½ dl raw sugar
125 g cold butter
1 egg
2 dl milk
eggs, almond flakes and sugar for brushing.
Do this:
Set oven on 250 degrees.
Mix flour, baking powder and raw sugar in a bowl.
Cut the butter into cubes and “crumble” it in the flour mix.
Whips eggs and milk together.
Mix liquids and dry ingredients to a dough.
Roll out the dough into a sausage (about 3 cm thick) on a table with flour. Cut the dough into the desired number of pieces (I make 12 pcs.) and shape them to buns.
Put the buns on a baking sheet covered with baking paper. Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle almond flakes and raw sugar on top.
Bake golden Bake in middle of oven for approx. 10 minutes.
Tips: tastes wonderful with melted butter and strawberry jam or Lemon curd
